PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a growth promoter for mycorrhizal fungis in which growth action is surely recognized by utilizing kelps already extracted with hot water as a raw material. SOLUTION: This growth promoter for mycorrhizal fungi comprises using a solid content of residue obtained by separating and removing a material eluted with hot water from kelps as a raw material, fractionating an alcohol extract fractionated from the solid content with an ODS-based column chromatography and containing a fraction eluted with an aqueous solution of alcohol having 15-40% alcohol concentration as an active ingredient. Since, in the growth promoter, a substance readily soluble in hot water is previously removed and organic substance extracted at a prescribed alcohol concentration and absorbed into the ODS-based resin and extracted with an aqueous alcohol solution having the prescribed concentration is contained as an active ingredient and contaminants other than the active ingredient is removed, the growth promoter is stable in efficacy.
