PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a running assisting device for a challenging person capable of facilitating running of the challenging person and reducing a load on a helper. SOLUTION: This running assisting device for the challenging person is provided with a device body 10 and a guiding apparatus 11 arranged so as to be supported in the device body 10 rotationally around the device body 10 for guiding a person to be guided. The running assisting device is provided with an encoder 42 detecting a rotational position of the guiding apparatus 11 in the device body periphery, a ROM 52 storing a plurality of kinds of voice data, a CPU 51 selectively reading out the voice data stored in the ROM 52 on the basis of the detection output from the encoder 42, a voice controlling part 56 converting the voice data read by the CPU 51 into voice for outputting it, and a speaker 57.
