PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time involved for a deformation correcting work by reducing an excessive or insufficient bending of a workpiece and decrease fatigue of the workpiece accompanying the correcting work. SOLUTION: The deformation correcting apparatus 1 is provided with a ram 27, workpiece holding mechanism 10, servomotor 36, power transmission mechanism 44, deflection sensor 19 and control apparatus 51. The ram 27 is provided in the radius direction (up and down direction) of the rod-like workpiece W allowing a reciprocating motion. The workpiece holding mechanism 10 supports the workpiece in the conditions that the deformation section of the workpiece is directed to the ram 27. The power transmission mechanism 44 converts rotation of the servomotor 36 into a linear reciprocating motion to transmit to the ram 27, and by pressing the ram 27 to the deformation section, the deformation is corrected. The control apparatus 51, based on the detection result of the deformation sensor 19, finds a target position of the ram 27 in order to limit the deformation volume of the deformation section within the prescribed range, and the servomotor 36 is controlled so that the ram 27 moves to the target position.
