PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ashtray for making the inside of the ashtray hardly visible by covering a cigarette butt inlet of the ashtray, automatically closing a cover also in a fall, not flowing out a cigarette ash and a cigarette butt to the outside of the ashtray and not redundantly requiring a cover opening and closing action separately from a cigarette dumping action. SOLUTION: This ashtray is characterized in that the ashtray is equipped with an ashtray main body of a container having a cigarette butt inlet being an opening arranged approximately at the central part of a cover part, plural spindles attached parallelly to the cigarette butt inlet of the ashtray main body and ash stopping pipes each inserted into the spindle so as to rock the ash stopping pipe and when a cigarette is inserted between the mutually adjacent ash stopping pipes, the ash stopping pipes are mutually moved right and left to open a space and the cigarette can be dumped inside of the ashtray main body.
