TRAVERSE CYLINDRICAL GRINDING MACHINE AND CYLINDRICAL GRINDING METHOD OF LONG ROUND WORKPIECE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traverse cylindrical grinding machine capable of grinding with high accuracy at a lower cost. SOLUTION: The traverse cylindrical grinding machine comprises a pressurizing body 12 being in contact with an outer surface of a workpiece 2 at a position opposite to a grinding tool and movable in a direction of the diameter of the workpiece 2, a correction hydraulic cylinder 13 for pressurizing the pressurizing member 12 to the workpiece 2, a displacement sensor 14 for detecting the displacement of the pressurizing member 12 due to a bending of the workpiece 2 with a grinding force, a controlling means 16 for operating the hydraulic cylinder based upon the detected results of the displacement sensor 14. The controlling means 16 is adapted to a feedback control of the hydraulic cylinder 13 so that the displacement of the pressurizing member 12 during grinding is kept below a predetermined value.
