The tray (1) is made from molded expanded polystyrene. The depressions (2) for compost are made in columns and rows. Each rectangular depression has sides which are at an acute angle to the outer sides of the tray. Each depression has a central drain hole (10) in a cruciform strengthening support (11) in the base of the depression. The angled alignment gives the tray greater rigidity than one in which the sides of the depressions are parallel to the tray edge.
