PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a cassette for a thermal transfer ribbon in a simple structure and a high conveyance speed of the ribbon and to prevent abrasion of the ribbon. SOLUTION: There is disclosed the cassette 1 which is equipped with a reel core for containing the thermal transfer ribbon 11 in casings 2a, 2b, the thermal transfer ribbon 11 being used to form an image line section on a printing plate. The reel core has a play with respect to the casings 2a, 2b of the cassette 1. The reel core is disposed in the casings 2a, 2b in such a manner that the reel core and the thermal transfer ribbon 11 do not touch the casings 2a, 2b during the winding process.
