PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer for easily taking out a book which can be put under a thick, heavy book in a bookcase because the spacer has a tilting part with an acute angle provided at an upper end of a flat plate made of wood, bamboo, or resin, and a handle on the other end and lower part of the flat plate is slippable but upper part is not, allowing to easily put the book on the spacer by the weight of the book as a boundary between a tilting part at the upper end of the flat plate and the flat plate works as a fulcrum of a lever, and enables us to easily take out the book in the bookcase without damaging it. SOLUTION: A spacer for taking out a book is provided with a tilting part 2 with an acute angle at an upper end of a flat plate 1 made of wood, bamboo, or resin, and a handle 4 at the other end. Treatment 3 to increase friction is applied on the upper part of the flat plate, and treatment 7 to reduce friction is applied on the lower part of the flat plate.
