A method of notifying a mobile subscriber of an event or of information relating to an event occurring ina mobile telecommunications network. The method comprises, upon the occurrence of said event, identifying the event to a common USSD function 9. A database 10 associated with the function is used to identify a message in the database with the event. The USSD message is sent to a user subscriber station and the USSD message is displayed on a display 6 of the station. The network can be a UMTS using a serving MSC/VLR, HLR or CAMEL server. The method is applicable to sending a USSD to identify the reason for the unavailability of a calling line identity. Also, a USSD message may be sent in the event of a call to an emergency service being terminated, informing the user that the call has been put on hold. |
