PURPOSE: To provide a color selection structure for a cathode ray tube which can improve the mechanical strength of a frame of the color selection structure while restraining increase of material cost and to provide a color cathode ray tube with this color selection structure. CONSTITUTION: A color selection structure 1 for the cathode ray tube, formed so that the length of one side is longer than the length of opposing side of which, supporting member 2, 3 are U-shaped, and on which, an approximately U-shaped thin electrode plate 10 for color selection is stretched, is constituted, or, a color selection structure 1 for cathode ray tube of which, elasticity applying members 4, 5 is formed by members 4, 5 with U-shaped cross section and a hollow member composed of blocking plate 13 blocking openings of members 4, 5, is constituted. By furnishing this color selection structure 1, the color cathode ray tube is constituted.
