<p>A secondary battery is additionally formed by the fact, that it is at least once charged by a series of electric pulses exceeding the value of the short-circuit current, and by the length of the impulses and pauses in-between them preferably of 0.1 ms class. The power level of the electric current within the impulse must not exceed the value which does not lead the current impulse to generate such an increase in potential between the electrolyte and the first or second electrode to induce any unwanted irreversible electro-chemical reaction. The additionally formed secondary battery is charged quickly by the same series of current impulses as in the case of additional forming of the secondary battery, but by a power level, which is around 10 % lower than the power of the electric current, by which it was additionally formed. The device for performing both procedures includes a power pulse generator with a power rating exceeding the one of the short-circuit current of the charged secondary battery and ranks at the 1000 A level, as well as the specified pulse and pause lengths in-between. Any additionally formed battery can be charged within one minute or even faster. The charging with pulses featuring a high electric current density increases the surface of its electrodes, which come into contact with the electrolyte. The capacity of the secondary battery is thus increased by 50 % to 150 % compared to the capacity of the new secondary battery, while even its life expectancy is extended by around 50 %. By technical solutions according to the invention the extremely pressing deficiencies of secondary batteries during their use are eliminated.</p> |
