The invention relates to a process for compressing facings-like ferrous metal waste, which consists in preparing a pile of ferrous metal waste having a volume mass ranging from 300 to 400 kg/m 3, followed by burning said pile at a temperature of 1400 degree C, for ten minutes, by means of a flame thrower which employs gasoline-like fuel, when the metal waste is crushed, partly welded and softened to lower its specific hardness and eliminate all organic impurities, a volume mass of 1300 and 1500 kg/m 3 being obtained, followed by slightly pressing the waste pile by using a 20 t/m 2 weight.
