Electrode-membrane assembly for polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM)-type fuel cell has proton conductors on and in the active layer of the electrodes. At least one proton conductor has a nature different from that of the membrane with which it is associated. The proton conductor present in the active layer surface is preferably of the same nature as a membrane constituent. An Independent claim is also included for the process of production of electrode/membrane assembly of fuel cell as claimed, comprising introduction of sulfonated polyimide into active layer in the form of a 0.5-2 wt.% solution in a solvent such as metacresol or N-methyl pyrrolidone; or introducing sulfonated polyether ketone into active layer, in form of 0.5-5 wt.% solution in solvent such as dimethyl acetamide or N-methyl pyrrolidone. |
