The exhaust heat exchanger has a diverging inlet (16) connected to two sets of tubes forming a bundle. Each of the tubes is connected at an upstream end to the inlet end, to form the two groups. Tubes in one group (52,54) have a larger loss of charge than those of a second group (56). The first group can have deformations to increase the loss of charge.
