Plate for lining the surface of an article subjected to impacting abrasive materials has a first large surface (10) that receives the impacting materials and a second large surface (11) opposite to the first surface and having cup-shaped pieces (6) that ensure adhesion by suction of the plate to the surface of the article and cushioning of the plate during impact by the abrasive materials. The lateral surfaces of the plate have a profile enabling the plate to be joined with another plate whose lateral surfaces have a complementary profile, e.g. a mortise and tenon joint. The first lateral surfaces (2, 3) are parallel and form an acute angle 'alpha' (around 45 degrees) and an obtuse angle 'beta' with the first large surface (10). The surfaces (2, 3) are intended to be oriented perpendicular to the flow of the abrasive materials. The profiles (20, 30) of the first lateral surfaces have cylindrical sections that are joined by force. The profiles of the two other lateral surfaces have a trapezoidal section and are joined by sliding. An Independent claim is given for an assembly of the plates, where the acute angle 'alpha' (defined above) is located such that it situated farthest from the point of impact of the abrasive materials.
