The container consists of lower (2) and upper (3) half shells of elongated and non-parallelpiped shape, with the lower half-shell at least having extensions (4) with flat surfaces (6) which allow the container to be positioned stably on a flat supporting surface. Additional extensions (5) on the upper half shell and matching projections (9) and recesses (10) on the extensions allow containers to be stacked.
