The spiral heat exchanger comprises two linked fluid circuits, the first of which is formed by the space between two sheets (1, 2) which are wound into a spiral and the second by the space between successive turns of the spiral. The sheets have conical internal (3a, 5a) and external (3b, 5b) spacers mounted on opposite sides. These have flat bases (6a, 6b) which lodge against each other in the space between the sheets when they are wound up.
