A plastic article, has a base structure covered with an impermeable layer formed by wound bands of liquid crystal polymer (LCP) and a reinforcing layer including oriented polymer(s). An Independent claim is included for forming an article as above by extruding a thermoplastic tube, winding the LCP around it and then applying the reinforcing layer.
