Culture medium (A) for detecting and/or differentiating Vibrio species comprises Vibrio culture medium that includes at least one chromogenic agent (I) that is a beta -glucosidase (bG) substrate. Independent claims are also included for: (a) similar medium in which (I) is replaced by a substrate for beta-galactosidase (bGal) and the medium then contains a high concentration of sucrose; and (b) method for detecting and/or differentiating Vibrio species using (A).
