METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCTION OF ELECTRICAL CROSS-TALK AND WAVE LENGTH CHIRP IN A DISTRIBUTED BRAGG REFLECTOR LASER

A shunt capacitor is placed in parallel with the tuning section of a tunab le electro-absorption modulated Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) laser. This reduces the electrical cross-talk between the modulator and tuning sections of the devic e. This reduction of electrical cross-talk results in a reduction of the wavelength chirp and therefore reduces the pulse distortion of a light wave traveling along an optical fiber.
