An optoelectronic sensor for determination of direction, comprising a photosensitive detector, such as a photodiode, which comprises a detection surface and a shadow mask disposed opposite the detection surface, at an angle thereto. Preferably, the shadow mask with a free end extends from an edge of the detection surface to a position approximately in the centre of the detection surface, and is elongate in shape.
