The invention relates to aryl trifluoromethyl ethers, which are obtained in an advantageous manner from the corresponding phenols, by reacting the latter with tetrachloromethane, trichloromonofluoromethane, or mixtures thereof and fluorohydrogen. Said reaction takes place in the presence of one or more catalysts form the group containing TiCl4, SnCl4, TaCl5, SbCl3, SbF3, SbCl5, KF and NaF.
