Corking device, comprising clamping means (10) for reducing the diameter size of a cork (1) to be inserted into a bottleneck (9) of a bottle (8) down to a diameter which is compatible with said insertion, and pushing means (7) for axially engaging said reduced diameter cork (1) and for pushing it into said bottleneck (9). The clamping means (10) comprise a resilient strip (2) folded on itself for defining a variable sized, annular zone fit to receive the cork (1), and central (31) and side (32, 33) blocks. Said blocks (31, 32, 33) define a pair of slots (34, 35) fit to slidably receive end portions (2b, 2c) of said strip (2). The strip (2) is reciprocally movable with respect to the blocks (31, 32, 33) in order to reduce the size of the annular zone (13) and, by consequence, the diameter of said cork (1), down to a size compatible with its insertion into said bottleneck (9).
