A computer based system, computer program product, and method are provided for managing the flow rate of network status messages to a remote network operations console. Detailed network status is abstracted into hierarchical levels of detail so that an appropriate level of detail can be provided from a flow control deamon (15) to the requesting network operations console (16A, 16B) without exceeding a predetermined allocation of bandwidth set aside for network status reporting.</p> |
