PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner and the method of operation of the air conditioner, wherein the rising of high pressure of coolant, the rising of discharging temperature of a compressor and the returning of liquid to the compressor can be prevented in case that a compressor is continuously operated by the welding of a magnet switch. SOLUTION: The air conditioner is provided with an outdoor unit provided with a compressor 2 and an outdoor heat exchanger 3 and indoor units 5a, 5b and 5c provided with indoor heat exchangers 6a, 6b and 6c, wherein the air conditioner is provided with a magnet switch for controlling the start and stop of the compressor 2 and a control means 100 opening both of a high pressure switching value 16 and a low pressure switching valve 17 when the compressor 2 is continuously operated by the adhesion of the magnet switch. |
