PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide communications equipment, the control method and a storage medium, capable of reporting a reception mail error and a transmission mail errors to a receiver by printing or the like and preventing defective data and error-reporting mail from being transferred and stored, without the error being noticed. SOLUTION: When an MINE analysis processing error, a BASE64 decoding error, a TIFF analysis error or an image decoding error are the result of analyzing electronic mail data, that is in the case of including data which cannot be handled in this communication equipment or the like, a global variable FOR WARD is set to '1'. Also, when a received electronic mail is the error-reporting mail, the variable FORWARD is set to '1' as well. When the variable FOR WARD is set to '1', the transfer and BOX storage of the received mail are inhibited, and a printing processing is performed by a printer part 2. When the variable FORWARD is not to '1', however, the received mail is transferred to a specified transfer destination or the BOX storage is performed.
