PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make laser power optimum during data recording to an optical disk, etc., and to stably reproduce address signals and servo signals with good reliability even during the recording of the data. SOLUTION: An optical recording medium is irradiated with a laser beam emitted from a semiconductor laser and the light intensity thereof is converted into a current value by a photodetector for detecting exit light. After this current value is subjected to signal processing, such as I/V conversion, by a signal processing means, the signals are sample-held at the timing of the sample pulses from a sample pulse forming means by a sampling means. A laser power control means controls the laser power by using the sample-held results in such a manner that the laser power is made optimum. At this time, a pulse timing setting means sets the timing of the sample pulses according to the response time of a propagation route of laser exit light. |
