PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk player capable of performing recording/ playing back to different types of optical disks and also to provide its recording/ playing back method. SOLUTION: The interchangeable type optical disk player includes a first laser diode for emitting a first laser beam to a first optical disk; a second laser diode for emitting a second laser beam to a second optical disk; a diffraction grating for selectively splitting, in accordance with the type of the optical disk to be applied, the first and the second laser beams into three beams consisting of one main beam and two sub-beams; and a photodetector for selectively receiving, at other detecting position, the three beams of the first laser beam and the three beams of the second laser beam, for the purpose of data recording and/or reproduction, error detection and compensation. |
