PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device suitable for the display device of an active matrix type excellent in yield and long-term reliability. SOLUTION: In the display device provided with an interlayer dielectric 6 provided on a substrate 1 in the state of covering ruggedness by wiring 4 on the substrate 1, and an organic EL element 10 provided on the interlayer dielectric 6, the interlayer dielectric 6 is composed of a flattening insulating layer 6a formed in the state of embedding the wiring 4, and a coat layer 6b formed in the state of covering the surface of the flattening insulating layer 6a. The flattening insulating layer 6a is a coating film which consists of material including an organic substance, for example, spin on glass, or resin material, and the coat layer 6b is a film which consists of inorganic material.
