SOLUTION: An error storage register 2 that continuously stores and updates a value to be diffused to surrounding pixels on a line in error information of a pixel is incorporated in a data drive type arithmetic unit 1a incorporating the error diffusion calculating device, an error data memory 3 that stores and updates a value to be diffused to surrounding pixels of a different line is provided to the outside of the arithmetic unit 1a, the error information and the value to be diffused are set to a packet, and the resulting packet is circulated and subjected to arithmetic processing.
