PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that MTF is decreased owing to change in optical path length or use of an optical axis of the whole optical system off a lens axis or nonuniformity of an optical path changing member and that the response speed of a display device is not adaptive to full color display of a moving picture and the sufficient number of pixels and sufficien image quality can not be obtained when displaying the moving picture in full color. SOLUTION: The picture display of this invention comprises a means 30 for displacing a position of a picture display element 24 in the direction almost parallel to the pixel arrangement surface with respect to an optical axis of a picture forming optical element 25 at every plural sub-fields composing a picture field, and this means 30 is configured of a picture display shifting means composed of piezoelectric elements working with resonance frequencies of 60 kHz or higher.
