PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual turning starter facilitating removal of mud fixed to a handle installation part and exchange of oil seal. SOLUTION: A journal boss part 26 of a gear case 25 journals a starting rotary shaft 30 and a cylinder boss part 27 covers around the outer circumference of the handle installation part 32 of the starting rotary shaft 30. An engagement pin 34 is penetrated through the handle installation part 32 with its axis (Z) crossing thereto and a manual turning handle 50 is detachably installed in the handle installation part 32 via the engagement pin 5. A pair of pin attachment/detachment holes 36 and 36 are bored in the cylinder boss part 13 with its position matching with the both ends of the engagement pin 5 and the engagement pin 5 is attached to/detached from the handle installation part 32 via the pin attachment/detachment holes 36 and 36.
