PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dull polyester fiber excellent in feeling of touch and sense of lightweightness compared to conventional titanium oxide-incorporated dull polyester fibers, and easy to undergo alkali reduction treatment. SOLUTION: This dull polyester fiber contains 0.1-5.0 wt.% of a 3-40C dicarboxylic acid metal salt compound, being >=80% in the degree of orientation determined by X-ray diffractometry and 1.320-1.365 g/cm3 in density.
