PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate wasteful waiting time, during which a telephone set put on hold during extension line communication keeps listening to holding sounds. SOLUTION: The system consists of plural key telephone sets 20 and a main device 10 housing the key telephone sets 20. In the case of holding communication by the operation input of one key telephone set 20-1 during the communication of an extension line via the main device 10, an extension line speech path is released by the on-hook operation of the other key telephone set 20-n, to which the holding sound is inputted from the main device 10, the other key telephone set 20-n called via the main device 10 is set off-hooked by the holding cancellation operation of the key telephone set 20-1, and thus the released extension line speech path is restored and a state capable of restarting the extension line communication is attained.
