PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting method for a reinforcing bar, capable of increasing the strength of the connecting portion of the reinforcing bar by welding and securing the strength of a concrete structure. SOLUTION: The end parts, wheretn radially-enlarged parts 2 are formed by working in advance, of both of the reinforcing bars 1 are fitted into a joint sleeve 3 in such a manner that the radially-enlarged parts 2 face each other, and the radially-enlarged parts 2 are welded for the purpose of connecting both of the reinforcing bars 1 together. Consequently, the end surfaces of the radially-enlarged parts 2 allow the area of bonding with a hot charge 5 to be increased in order to accordingly increase the connecting strength of both of the reinforcing bars 1.
