<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element in which a stable high brightness output is obtained by suppressing the position movement of the element caused by thermal expansion of the substrate by using a substrate of a low thermal expansion coefficient. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element is equipped with a transparent substrate 10 of a thermal expansion coefficient of 10×10-6 deg-1 or less such as, for example, a sapphire substrate, and on the transparent substrate 10, a transparent electrode 12 as a positive electrode, an organic compound layer 14 containing the luminous layer, and a metal electrode 16 as a negative electrode are laminated sequentially to form a laminate body 18. When a prescribed voltage is impressed between the transparent electrode 12 and the metal electrode 16 of this electroluminescent element, the luminous layer contained in the organic compound layer 14 emits light, and the emitting light 24 is taken out through the transparent electrode 12 and the transparent substrate 10.</p> |
