PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method by which natural image pickup data of an object receiving light of street-lamps with a nocturnal scene in the background can be obtained. SOLUTION: Whether or not a shutter is fully depressed is discriminated in step S51, detection data of an external light is acquired in step S52, and when strobe lighting is not required, a parameter for image pickup without a strobe light is set in step S54, and an object is picked up in step S55 and image data are captured. When necessity of strobe lighting is discriminated, preliminary lighting is made in step S56 and detection data are acquired in step S57. A parameter for strobe lighting image pickup is set in step S58, an object is picked up in step S59, and image data are captured. Similar processing in the steps S54, S55 is conducted in steps S60, S61, the image data that are weighted in response to an intensity ratio of the strobe light to a reflected external light are synthesized in step S62, and the image data are compressed in step S63 and recorded in step S64.
