PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve a problem that a magnetic tape is deformed along a difference in level by preventing the generation of the difference in level in an adjacent part between the magnetic tape and a leader tape, in a single reel type tape cartridge wherein a guide piece is connected to the magnetic tape via the leader tape. SOLUTION: An inclined surface 33 whose thickness becomes thin slowly toward the magnetic tape 3 is provided in one side of the connecting part 32 of the leader tape 12. The thickness of the end of the inclined surface 33 is made to coincide with the thickness of the magnetic tape 3. The tape 3 is joined to the tape 12 in the side of the inclined surface 3 by a joining tape 34, and tape surfaces which face the joining tape 34 are continued on the same plane. In the state that the leader tape 12 is wound onto the reel 35 of a tape drive, the inclined surface 33 faces the peripheral surface of the reel 35, and the tape surfaces facing the joining tape 34 are positioned in the outer side. Then, deformation due to the difference in level is avoided.
