PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently give redundancy to data recording by considering the distribution of a medium defect and the type of data recording and to improve error resistance by redundant information when types different in significance exist in data recording. SOLUTION: In an information recording method, an information source is encoded and recorded on a recording medium so that information contents including video information (210) and sound information (220) are constituted of local information expressing the partial state of the contents and header information which operates commonly on local information in a prescribed range. Data whose information source is encoded is packed by dividing it at every sector length on the recording medium and a pack containing the important header information is selected and is made redundant. The prescribed number of sectors are blocked. Errors are encoded on a block unit and data of the redundancy pack is dispersively allocated to the prescribed sectors in plural blocks.
