PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make articles, such as documents and jewels, requiring authenticity recognition and identification, recognizable and identifiable by sticking on dyeing UV excitable fluorescent materials to these articles by coating or other methods, irradiating the materials with exciting light and spectrally measuring the emitted fluorescence. SOLUTION: The UV excitable fluorescent materials for identification are constituted by mixing plural kinds of the fluorescent materials at prescribed mixing ratios. The reproduction of the same fluorescence emission spectra as the fluorescence emission spectra in excitation with UV light with the mixture composed of other materials by a person exclusive of a person manufacturing the mixed fluorescent materials described above is practicably infeasible. The spectral photometry of the fluorescence is separately carried out by using two or more UV light sources and the fluorescence emission spectra obtainable therefrom are subjected to data processing and are displayed as patterns on a display monitor, by which the rapid and exact identification by secondary patterns is made possible.
