PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network monitoring system and a method therefor by which an equipment monitoring result on a network can be obtained more accurately. SOLUTION: The network monitoring system is provided with a monitoring server 1, an equipment to be monitored which is a monitoring target, a monitoring client 3, a monitoring probe server 4, and a data base 5 and the server 4 for practically collecting the data of a network monitoring result is separated from the server 1 for practically storing, analyzing and displaying the monitoring result. A monitoring probe server 6 is formed on a network hierarchy different from that of the server 4 and each equipment to be monitored is doubly monitored by respective servers 4, 6.
