PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the device which can decrease the manufacture cost because the positioning process of a mask is not required when a supporting member is formed and which has a small area of the supporting member and a high contrast ratio. SOLUTION: Openings 9a, 5a, 5b are formed in a first pixel electrode 9 and a black matrix 5 on a substrate 1, and a supporting member 18 is formed at the position of these openings 9a, 5a, 5b. The supporting member 18 is formed from a negative resist hardened by exposing to UV rays through the openings 9a, 5a, 5b from the substrate 1 side and supports a sealing plate 11 to make the gap between the plate 11 and the substrate 1 constant. |
