<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide with a high yield a solar battery having a high energy converting efficiency which can exhibit largely its optical confinement effect regardless of the crystal quality of its substrate and can maintain its low reverse saturation current. SOLUTION: The solar battery has 34 a substrate 1 for generating a voltage by a photoelectric conversion when projecting a light on it. There is provided a light receiving portion for receiving the projected light which is at least a portion of the surface of the substrate 1, and there is provided a surface layer 5 disposed on the light receiving portion and made of a light transmitting material which has on the external surface thereof a space comprising recessed portions capable of confining therein at least a portion of the projected light.</p> |
