PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device with low cost and small size which can be fitted for pre-heating characteristics, starting characteristics, and lighting characteristics of a plurality of discharge lamps with different rated power. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device comprises an alternating current power source 10; a direct current power source part 1 rectifying and smoothing alternating current output of the alternating current power source 10; an inverter part 2 supplying high frequency output to a fluorescent lamp 4 by converting the output of the direct current power part 1 into high frequency output; a socket part 3, mounting the fluorescent lamp 4, connecting the fluorescent lamp with high frequency output of the inverter part 2, with a judging part 8 which judges rated power of the fluorescent lamp 4 by judging a misinsertion preventing structure arranged at different location corresponding with the rated power of the fluorescent lamp 4, at a base part of the fluorescent lamp 4; and a driving part 7, with a control part 6 which controls the oscillation of a switching element at the inverter part 2 so as to fit with the detecting part 5 outputting a detecting signal corresponding with the result of judgment of the rated power of the fluorescent lamp 4, and the rated power of the fluorescent lamp 4, and outputs driving signal to the switching element. |
