PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To knit a filling knitted fabric product having desired qualities by improving a latch needle and making the latch needle usable for general purposes. SOLUTION: In this latch needle 1 of a form equipped with a hook 3 ending at a hook tip 4 and forming a hook inner chamber 9a belonging to a yarn chamber 9 and with a latch 7 which is supported by the latch needle 1 rotatably between a closing position I for closing the yarn chamber 9 and an upward facing position for releasing the yarn chamber 9 and has a free end 12 to be brought into contact with the hook 3 at the closing position I, especially for a sensitive yarn, an inside contour 23 connected to the free end 12 of the latch 7 is provided with one step part 22.
