PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognizing device by which an object is clearly and surely detected even when illumination in the circumference of an imaging means is drastically changed at night, etc., in the case of detecting the object from an image. SOLUTION: The device is constituted in such a way that the imaging means 301 superimposes a prescribed number of stored images to permit the average luminance of a prescribed area becomes the one within the range of previously decided luminance based on luminance information of the image which is picked-up by the imaging means 301, an image synthesis processing part 306 generates a synthetic image, an object detecting part 308 detects the object from the synthetic image and a detection result inspecting part 309 inspects a detection result based on a permission range which is set from data for indicating a plurality of past times positions, etc., and also adjusts the permission range in accordance with the number of synthesis in the synthetic image.
