PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clarify the state of coating on a glass substrate of a plasma display panel so as to permit checking of the condition of the coating on the glass substrate upon fabrication of the panel. SOLUTION: A first electrode 1 is formed on a back surface in an image non-displaying region of a display glass substrate 11, and a second electrode 2 is an electrode formed on the back surface in the image non-displaying region of the display glass substrate 11 and having a potential difference from the first electrode 1 upon driving a plasma display. Pairs 3 (1, 2, to n) of electrodes are pairs of electrodes which are formed with different intervals by the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2 and to which the potential difference is applied upon driving a plasma display panel 9. The service time of the panel and the condition of the coating become clear by color changes of the pairs 3 of electrodes.
