METHOD AND DEVICE FOR IMBEDDING GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM(GPS) DATA TO MOBILE PHONE CALL DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method to imbed GPS position data with respect to a GSM(Global Systems for Mobile Communications) cellular phone into a consecutive sample of voice data sent from the GSM cellular phone and to provide a device to employ the method. SOLUTION: A mobile phone receives position data from a global positioning system(GPS) receiver (10) and an editor (14) edits the data to provide a position of a fixed bit number and speed data for each second. A buffer (18) stores the data until a voice sample is available and the data are imbedded to the continuous voice sample so as to limit bits affected by the presence of the position data to a small rate of bits in each voice sample. A receiver at a fixed position or a position of other mobile unit can restore the position and speed data.
