PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device and a range measuring method for an image, which can photograph an exiting beam obtained from an object that a beam is irradiated and easily measure the depth range of the object. SOLUTION: This device comprises an irradiating part, which simultaneously irradiates both beams to the object, which are a first irradiated beam with a first wavelength and a first strength distribution on a plane being vertical to an optical axis and a second irradiated beam with a second and a third wavelength that are different from the first beam length, and a second strength distribution, a spectral part, which optically separates the first irradiated beam with the first length, the second beam with the second length, and a third beam with the third length from the irradiated beam obtained from the object, an image pickup part and beam strength detecting part, which take the image and detect each strength of them, and a depth range calculating part, which calculates the depth range to object based on each strength of the first, the second, and the third beam. Thereby the depth range of the object can be easily measured.
