PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and accurately determine a magnetization position, when a permanent-magnet rotary machine is magnetized with the rotor thereof incorporated in the stator thereof. SOLUTION: Impedance of stator phase windings is determined by the application of impulse voltage or other similar method, so that the rotor position can be detected even if the interior is not visible. Then, while the rotor is externally rotated, the rotor is set in the optimum magnetization position prior to magnetization.
